Third Sunday of Lent A (En español en la parte del abajo). There is a famous atheist on the Internet who, in his attempt to defend his beliefs, said something strange as one of his arguments: He said, “if you were to take a Physics book and the Bible, and if you were to somehow to erase both of them from existence, in a thousand years, the “facts” of Physics would be recovered completely, but the “lore” of the Bible would not.” Now, I don’t leave comments on the Internet, but let me say, I sure was tempted when I heard him say this. I was tempted to post, “do you believe in Love?” Would love be recovered in a thousand years? The bible isn’t a science book; the bible isn’t a “how-to” manual. The bible is a love story. We can’t measure Love like we can measure velocity or pressure. We can’t quantify Love, so we can’t say something such as, “I love you way more than you love me.” Still, although we cannot measure Love, Love is more real than Physics, so, in a thousand year...

Ash Wednesday 2025 (En español en la parte del abajo) How many of us know someone who has some health troubles, and needs to make a change in their lives? Maybe they need to stop smoking; or maybe they need to start eating healthier and lose some weight; or maybe they need to get up and get moving and get some exercise. Now, how many of us recognize that the person who needs to make a change is us ? First person singular. Me. I need to make some changes for the sake of my health. Whoever it may be, a friend, a relative, or we ourselves, and whatever the health issue may be, it can seem that getting started is one very tough step to take. We have all heard it, or perhaps we’ve all said it, “I’ll start after the holidays.” Or, we say, “I’ll start after my birthday,” or maybe we just say, “I’ll start next week,” that hazy point in time that never comes. Today, this day right now, never seems to be a good option. There are simply too many reasons not to start making the changes ...
