This means that if we love Jesus, we will keep his new law of love, that we must love one another as he has loved us. Our Gospel also speaks of his gift to us of his Peace. Love and Peace, Peace and Love. It sounds like a rally cry from the 1960’s. We will want to talk a little bit about these words, Love and Peace. Because, in our culture the words Love and Peace mean something quite different from what Love and Peace mean in the Gospel. In fact, what Christians mean by Love and Peace can be a big misunderstanding for people living in our culture today. The Gospel speaks of Love first, and then later speaks of the gift of Peace.
